WHAT IS A WATERMARK ?

A watermark is a subtle image permanently impressed into paper during the manufacturing process. It identifies the source of the sheet and may contain a trademark or brand name. Watermarks signal high quality paper and are symbols of authenticity and distinction. In lightweight rolling papers these are commonly used by brands wishing to promote the perceived quality of their product as well as make counterfeiting difficult. It is a myth that somehow this slows down the burn rate or affects the evenness of paper burning.

A watermark  is made by impressing a roller embossed with a pattern onto the paper during manufacturing. There are two ways in which a watermark can be made. Firstly in an online process when the paper itself is being manufactured. While the end result may be much better it is unreasonable for smaller brands to consider this option as the setup costs and quantities required are restrictive at over USD 100,000 inclusive of the embossing roller and initial paper order. This does not yet include any downstream processing with gum or booklet manufacturing. The other option is an offline process where the watermark is embossed on the paper after the paper is produced.

To view a watermark, hold the paper to the light. It will be lightly visible as a delicate pattern of density variations in the paper.

OUR WATERMARKING PROCESS

We are one of the few companies in the world to offer this service to our clients online as well as offline. Our in-house machines have the unique ability to process your watermark offline at a reasonable cost. It takes about 6 days for us to produce your watermark roller and costs approximately $4500. Keep in mind that this time frame is added on to your order as we are unable to process paper without the watermark roller in our hands. Once we have the watermark roller with your brand we are able to process any of our paper selection on it. So if you are ordering a range of different papers we can process them all with your own watermark. We can use your watermarked paper to manufacture both rolling papers and pre rolled cones.

If you are interested in having a watermark but haven’t reached that stage yet in brand development, we have our own TRPC watermark which we use on most of our products which we are happy to let any of our clients use at no additional cost. It is an eclectic mix of our hexagon logo in a honeycomb pattern from our Smokebox brand and the flame from our TRPC logo merged into one beautiful design. Scroll on the above image to see what it looks like.

WATERMARK USAGE AND PROPRIETARY INFORMATION

Your watermark roller is owned by you and we are only able to use it for your orders. Should you decide at some later date to not use it any longer we are happy to destroy it but we will not send it anywhere as others may try to reverse engineer our machines.

We will not make watermarks of famous brands. We will not even make watermarks similar to famous brands. So don’t even ask us. We don’t manufacture counterfeit products.
